
Coach Simone Nairn started her gymnastics career in Britain in 1978 and was a strong competitor throughout regional English gymnastics meets.
Simone retired in 1991 as a gymnast and moved to Australia with her family holding BAGA coaching qualifications and awards from British Gymnastics, British Athletics Association & the Australian Athletic Association, having competed at prolific venues such as 'Crystal Palace' the home of British Athletics, QEII stadium, Sydney Olympic Park and at the olympic trials.
Simone has been awarded:
- FIG Internationally qualified coach holding a NCAS Level 2 qualification including Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, Acrobatics, Kindy Gymnastics, General Gymnastics and holds a
- Certificate from Qld University in Sports Specific; Biomechanics and the Muscular Skeletal system.
Due to her untiring work and dedication to gymnastics, in 2006 Simone was recognized by Samsung and the Australian Olympic Committee towards dedication to the community and the sport of gymnastics, selecting Simone as one of only 8 Australian Ambassadors in the 2006 Winter Olympic Torch through Italy.
Also in 2006, Simone Nairn was a successful recipient on the Women in Sport Leadership Grant through the Australian Sports Commission, to further develop gymnastics sport programs in the region.
During this year Simone was elected and voted as a member of the Qld Gymnastics General Gymnastics Management Committee.
Simone's husband - Rodney Nairn also an International athlete at body sculpting winning many world championship medals, gained the National Womens Artistic coaching qualifications through Gymnastics Australia.
Simone & Rodney have succeeded with junior regional and individual Qld state medalists on gymnastics apparatus, cheer stunts and tumbling, and having had the honor to have a tumbling team display at the 2004 NRL Grand final.
In 2006 Further realizing the importance to increase gymnastics participation in the Gold Coast Region Simone & Rodney opened 4 kindy gymnastics venues in child care centres - and the first Varsity Gymnastics permanant venue was opened.
In 2009 Simone was a successful applicant selected for the Sydney International Development Coaches Conference delivered by the Australian National Coach Peggy Liddick (former coach of the multi gold medal winning USA Olympic gymnastics team).
Simone and Rodney have both travelled to the AIS with members of their team to train in the “Search for the Stars” identification process towards the 2016 Olympics and beyond.
